Inge van der Schaft

Inge started riding on ponies when she was 6 years old. Her grandfather bought her a pony and if the pony became too small, they were switched for a bigger one, till ultimately it became a horse.
Her first horse was Monseigneur and in that time she met Rien. Because of school and therefore short-in-time, Rien took over the training and brought Monseigneur till the Grand Prix.

Rien got work at the "Rotterdamse manege" and there Inge was asked to ride Prins-Lom. First once to twice a week, later on more and eventually the owner wanted Inge to enter competitions. They competed in the Prix st George. In 1981 and 1982 both Rien and Inge were part of the Dutch dressage team on the European championships in Aken and the World championships in Lausanne. Rien with Juroen and Inge with Le-Baby, the horses were from Mrs. Benedictus where they both trained for many years.
Other horses which Inge competed with are: Waitanghi, Don-Juan, Tsjaikovski, Chopin, Diva, Darwin, Indiana-Jones, Odurin till the Prix St. Georges and Intermediare I. Punto-Banco at medium level. At the moment Inge trains Rebell, from owner Barbara den Braber. Inge will start with him in the Prix st George and hopefully eventually compete with him in the Grand Prix.

Romy also rode with Indiana-Jonas (Icarlin) and competed succesfully in the Junior level. As member of the National Junior B-team she gained a lot of experience in national and international competitions.

In 2007 Inge coached Alia Soraya, from Malaysia, in Thailand for the SEA Games (South East Asian). Alia was very successful, she won the team qualifications and won gold with the team.

In November 2010 Inge will go to China with Alia to coach her for the Asian-Games.

In September 2010 Florentine Rootveld won the Z1 title with Winea on the Hippiade (Dutch championships) and she became runner-up with Up-7 in the Z2. With both horses she had already won the Regional championships (Gelderland). Inge has trained Florentine for a year now.
